Question Eligibility for Course - please advise!

Just a quick question - according to uni I want to apply to, I have the grades in my old exams to be considered for their course. So if other people with better grades also apply, are they more likely to get the course? What I'm asking really is are all people who make the grade considered equally and then decision based on personal statement and interview or will they only consider people with the best grades and then use the PS and interview to decide between these applicants?

Does that make any sense???

I'm asking because I have the exact grades required and am wondering should I do something extra (like a biology course) or would I be better concentrating on doing a great PS and trying to get some work experience?

I spoke to the tutors at one of my chosen uni's and they said that you have to meet the educational criteria but it was more important for them to see that you are passionate about midwifery and if possible have some health care experience or relevant work experience

Hi MD

I agree with Claire, but note you said 'old' exams - how old? I think you have to show evidence of recent study, so that Biology course might be a good idea! xxx

The exams I took were in 1998 and then I did a degree from 1998-2002. The university (Queens, Belfast) said that the exams I took in 1998 were fine for eligibility when I asked specifically about if it had to be recent study.

Well, in that case your degree top trumps your previous exams anyway - you are OVER-qualified! xxx

hiya

as far as im aware you need to meet the criteria to get the interview, then its down to your PS and your interview, they like to know you are passionate about midwifery.

good luck hun xx
