I'm really worried about my qualifications.
My A-Levels aren't great. I got a C in music (1% off a B- how irritating) and Sports Studies, and an E in biology. The biology A level was really more about plants etc, and I didn't enjoy it. I did excell in the human biology part of the Sports studies, but the history and other parts brought the grade down to a C. I didn't put much effort int any of them though tbh as was a lazy teenager with no direction. I completed a music degree last year, but only got a 2:2. To be fair to me again though I was pregnant with my 2nd child during my 2nd year, and then went back for my 3rd year without a break and an 11 week old baby, and no childcare! My heart wasn't in it as I had decided by then I really wanted to be a midwife, but at the same time wanted to at least finish what I had started. Do you think the Biology will matter? Or will they take one look despite the degree and think I am "clearly" rubbish at biology, and therfore not suited to studying midwifery? If I manage to get to the interview stage I can explain all this, but i'm worried I won't even get that far based on my not so good A-levels. What do you think? (sorry for joining here and then asking a million and one questions already

Ok, thanks. I will give them a call tomorrow then. I did consider doing a Biology A-Level this year, but with everything else i'm planning on doing, as well as looking after my own kids i'm not sure how I would fit it in!

Thanks, just called them and they are getting back to me as to whether or not I need to study further Biology before applying.
They also said I need a refernce from my music degree, and not my midwife- poo. They also said I have to already have experience caring before I apply, and that being in the application process isn't good enough. All rubbish really, I might have to do another A-Level, and then put my application on hold until Nov time, and also have some do a refernce who only has my name and grades in front of me! Feeling very down now and like I will never get into anywhere.

oh, sorry to hear that, maybe an access course is the right thing for you to do, it takes a year full-time and is well-suited to prepare you for many of the subjects covered on the course?
you could get the ref from your music teacher and then one form your access tutor too? It takes work and time to get there, I know. I did pre-access for three months part-time and then a years full-time access course. Try not to feel too down about it, it will be worth it

why not try doing an access course. i've just completed mine and really enjoyed it. it gave me help and support through the application process (which was invaluable, wouldn't of wanted to try it on my own), i enjoyed the actual lessons which were all relevent and it was nice to be with like minded peopole who understood how much i wanted to do midwifery. i made some fantastic friends too, some of whom will be at uni with me. it was less than 12 months and i did 2 and half days a week. just a thought that could be worth thimking about x x x
