Default I've decided to call it a day!

Dear All

After lots of soul searching and restless nights I have decided to give up my dream of becoming a midwife.

I have played out various options and talked to lots of people but it seems that the shifts are not going to be feasible with two children and no partner. I have made enquiries about overnight childminders etc but they don't seem to exist round here. I'm not sure that getting my children up at 5am for me to be at work for 7am would be fair anyway!

I have had a magical few months on this site and want to thanks you all for your friendship and wish you all well with your courses and careers.

With love, N x

Hiya!

Sorry to hear you feel that way. All i would say is don't give up on your dream totally, you could maybe do it when your children are a little older maybe? x

As others have said really - midwifery will always be here when the time is right... Also though, a mothers help/nanny could be an option - that way when you do have to go to work early they can get the little one's up??? You'd still get childcare help with that from the bursary folk... Maybe spend a few years as a doula??

Good luck with whatever you chose to do though - and please don't leave here... x

ChickP,
I am sorry to hear you've decided to give up your dream but as others have said, it doesn't have to be a permanent decision. Maybe take time out, enjoy every moment with your children and reconsider in a few years.

Please don't feel you have to leave the site, you are more than welcome to stick around and keep up-to-date with happenings in the midwifery world!

All the best to you in whatever you decide but midwifery and sm.NET will always be here, waiting until you are ready to start on your journey again!!

xx
