Right ok, so I'm 17, still in full time education. I am in college doing hairdressing. I wanted to start the DLC access course, but as it seems I am too young to do an access course
. Suddenly I have no idea how to go about getting into uni because I want to do a course part time, and at my local college to resit my GCSEs you need to have D in maths, english and science. And I got an E in my maths. I don't want to go back to school either. Any idea as to how I can over come this? xxx

Thankyou hun! I will have a look at Learn direct, and contact the careers advisor! I'm just to impatient to be hanging about resitting my GCSEs lol! But it will be all be worth it in the end. Or I could wait a yr and do the access course..
Have a good weekend too! xxxxx |

I'm exactly the same. When I have set my mind on something I have to have it as yesterday. No patience what so ever. Maybe subscribe to a midwifery journal. The practising midwife is a great one and at £25 for a years subscription is not too bad. Be able to gen up while you study your maths and of course this site is packed full of interesting threads and great advise. It may feel like you are moving not as fast as you would like but just think how far you have come since starting your hairdressing course. You have settled within your own mind that you want to do midwifery. You have joined this site. You are checking out the opportunities to advance your maths skills and you are looking into applying to uni. There certainly have been a lot of changes in that short time so just think what difference a few more months will make. Look at yourself as a work in progress. It is the fondational work on a house which takes the time and you don't see much for it but once that is laid the rest goes up in a flash. You are now in the process of doing that importand foundation and you are definitely on your way
Full steam ahead... Sorry to rattle on but just don't want you to get disheartened. xxxxxxxxxx

Hiya, Why not do a BTEC national diploma in health&care at your college, they are designed for 16+ You can do it full time and get the diploma or do it part time and get the certificate?
