Default questions to ask??

Hi all

I have managed to arrange to spend a few hours with a midwife at our local hospital on Monday morning. I have thought of some questions to ask her, but am hoping for some inspiration from you guys to add to my list/ things I may not have thought of.

So.....

If you could ask a practising midwife any question to help you prepare for starting the course, what would it be????

How to describe a day in the life of a midwife? What is a midwifes main priority? Could discuss shortages of midwives? What is the job situation once qualified? How do they cope with a stillbirth? Could they explain their role in detail? How to they deal with stress? List is endless, good luck and enjoy every minute!

What would you say is the most important/influencial experience you had as a student midwife that you have carried forward into your practice as a professional and still refer to today?

Hope you have a really enjoyable time xxxxxxxx

Thanks all

I had a fantastic morning. Got to go all round the maternity unit and neonatal unit and spoke to loads of staff as well as the woman who was looking after me. Asked loads of questions and she's given me some pointers should I be lucky enough to get an interview too.

The woman was so nice too.

the university(s) that you apply to will appreciate that it is hard to get an opportunity like that, and will give you lots of credit for getting out there and doing that. What sort of tips did she give you?
