Hello, I am on the verge of applying to be a midwife and I am just exploring every tiny griipe I have to make sure I have got everything covered before I dive in. I don't drive and as a lone parent, I can't see me having the time or the money to learn to drive and run a care anywhere in the near future. How many midwives weren't able to drive while they were training? How does this affect things like placements, especially shifts and community work? I am sure not every midwife in the land can drive but perhaps I am wrong. Please enlighten me! Thank you x

I don't drive, and I have managed ok so far. You just have to be organised time wise, and leave enough time so that if the bus is late/doesn't turn up, or the train is delayed/cancelled you can still get wherever on time.
It is do able though.
