Just got this email from Queens

I asked them about places and numbers of applicants and this is what I got back:

This year for the 2008 Intake the Department of Health granted us 30 places. I am not aware of how many places we will have for 2009. In previous years we have received over 250 application forms for the places that have been offered.

Yeah, those odds are pretty good compared with a lot of places. - only just over 1 in 8 chance - you wouldn't not apply for a job cos only 8 other people we applying for it would you???

Plus, a lot of those 250 will have also applied elsewhere to so will take up places elsewhere - if you see what I mean...

Think positive! You will be one of the people to gain a place! x

I know at our uni there were around 800 applicants,
and they only had 23 places available. Don't let the numbers put you off.

Those are quite good odds, my uni took 32 students this year out of over 700 applicants.

There's no reason you can't get one of those places, just show lots of passion and commitment and you'll stand out. Good luck xx

Hi Moondance, I have had a few attempts at contacting you but as a new user I am a bit thick! I am also going for Queens next year and know its tough competition. However I think if you believe in your abilities this will reflect at interview. It is difficult to locate other potential Queens applicants because I think they are like submarines - run silent and run deep! Lovely to come across your post - hope we can talk soon.

As others have siad thats quite normal, my uni was 1 in 10 successful. But why on earth shouldn't it be you!! Think positivly, you WILL get one of those 30 places :-)
