Re: WHY???
I had this problem when i was applying for HCSW jobs they also say you need experience but how are you meant to get experience if no one gives you the chance very fustrating.
Hope your ok and the nursing home is a good idea because i think they train you and you can do your NVQ's with them, keep your chin up the right thing will come at the right time xxxxx

Re: WHY???
Alot of care homes don't require NVQ2 (unless it has changed) I started work in a care home where they promised me my NVQ didn't get it as they were horrid people(private nursing home) I was with them for well over a year. I then got a job with the ******* trust I started on the 13th Jan and was in getting my folders for my NVQ2 the next week. Completed in 2months. So if places offer it go for it. I know easier said than done.

Re: WHY???
Does it have to be paid work? if not why don't you apply to do voluntary work at your local Childrens Centre.

Re: WHY???
When I was applying I thought getting a HCA job would be easy - it wasn't, and I ended up thinking of alternatives... in the end my caring experience was through St John Ambulance volunteering. You get free qualifications with them too! For me that was feasible so I could keep a day job, and do that in evenings and weekends. It was also almost instantly accessible (although you do need a police check thingummy). Any caring experience will help - I'm an example of someone who had no direct experience at all!
