Midwifery open day

Just wanted to talk about the great day I had today! I went to a midwifery open day today at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford and we got a taster of some lectures. We had several talks from community midwifes and a high risk midwife, both were so intresting and have wanted me to be part of this amazing team even more!

I just really hope my application all goes well!

It sounds like you had a brilliant day. How did you find out about it, would love to see if any of my local hospitals are doing anything like this? x

I got sent a letter through the post as I tried to get work experience there but due to my age was too young! They say it looks really good on your UCAS which is good!

I went to that too along with another SM.Netter - Becca2008.
Where were you sat - did you go with anyone else?
We sat on the right hand side (nearest the door) and about 4/5 rows from the front

It was a fab day wasn't it, although the 2nd lady seemed a bit like she'd been shoved in at the deep end a bit, especially as she'd only been expecting 10 people! poor lady! I loved the maternity ward tour - although having 2 boys of my own I'd come across it all before!

Are you going to the Medway one too in November?

I was quite near the front on the left. I went with my friend from school who is also interested in doing the course!
I know that poor lady, I think she got more at ease as the talk went on, it was interesting what she was saying though!
I didn't know there was one in November what is it on? Is it basically the same talk, or something else?

Awww, I went to this too!

I remember feeling so desperately emotional and sad though wondering if I'd ever get to be a midwife!

The tour was poignant too as my daughter was born there and the lady taking the tour was the midwife who delivered her and one of the reasons why I wanted to be a midwife!

I am glad you ladies enjoyed it, I loved it too
