TPM, for me it is by far the best, and the best value too!

I loves it

The Practising Midwife (www.practisingmidwife.co.uk) is a really good read, and one of the most affordable too.

MIDIRS (www.midirs.org) publish a monthly online newsletter that you don't have to subscribe to, so it's worth having a browse at that too.

The RCM (www.rcm.org) also have a monthly e-zine that you can sign up for without having to be a member.

Hope that helps!

Definitely The Practising Midwife. It is only £25 for a years subscription where as the British Journal of Midwifery is nearly £100. I do get both mind... I think TPM is easy to read and has a great section for student midwives. Really is value for money. There I hope that has earned me some commission you never know I might get next years subscription for free.... HaHa ;0) xxxxxxxx

If you are doing Access to Midwifery can you get student rate for membership of the RCM? Or do you have to be on a pre-registration midwifery course?

I'd add the Association of Radical Midwives to the list. They have a pretty good website with lots of topics on, and I've just noticed they have a CD-ROM for sale (£25) with their first 100 journals and keyword search (darn it - another thing for my shopping list!). Membership is £30 per year but you might be able to wangle the 1/2 price concession?

If you are doing access you can still get the student rate as that is what I have done. They just ask for year of qualification so if you are hoping to get in for 2009 entry you would put down 2012

As the other ladies have said TPM is great, its easy to read and very interesting. It depends what you want it for really as we have been told not to reference TPM articles much is our essays its ok in year one but not in two and three, something like MIDIRS is recommended for reference. xx
