    Hi,

If you have done your first year exams at some point in last 5 ish years, i wonder if you would mind posting up the subject areas that you were asked in the 1st yr, 3hr exam? Perhaps we could build up a bank of practice questions for a useful resource ?.....

(perhaps someone else might like to start another thread for other types of exam questions to keep the topics separate)

Please do not post actual questions from your exams - Josie.

have you been told about the structure/format of the questions? ours had one compulsory question, then pick 2 from a choice of 3 i think, and then 4 short questions from a choice of 5 (or something like that)...

i can't remember what the questions were but remember the topics...ours were along the lines of:

    - a&p of a physiological third stage of labour

    - something to do with the second stage of labour ?mechanisms -relate this to your knowledge of a&p in the second stage of labour.

    - you visit a baby on day 5 postnatal (term, normal delivery etc). How would you know that the baby was well and relate this to knowledge of A&p of breastfeeding.

for the shorter questions - bullet points about:

    responsibility and sphere of practice

    supervision of midwifery

    autonomy

    professional development

    medicine administration

This is a good idea but please DO NOT post actual questions from your Uni exams.

I had an A&P exam and it was sim to Roo's above.

I don't THINK our exam was 3 hours. If it was it certainly didn't feel like it. It was multiple choice.

hope mine don't constitute as actual exam questions -i can only remember the topics -kind of made up a question to go along with it. feel free to edit moderators if you think it may read as such -don't want to mislead anyone.

they never repeat the exact same questions anyway -just a shame they don't use the 'past exam paper' section thing on the library website grr.

you'll get practice exam questions anyway. xx good luck. [and go to any of the study/revision sessions they put on as they are very useful]

Noo -we had some multiple choice exams too -all half hour ones (x4) just a&p. but then this 3 hour unseen one too. and another one in the second year!

We did our A&P exams recently (year 1, semester 2), it was 3 hours. We were given 1 seen question which we were given a month beforehand so that we could research topic, we also had to bring in a list of references that we'd used and write an essay style answer using our references correctly. We also had 2 other shorter essay style questions which were unseen (we were able to choose 2 out of 4 topics to write about) and finally we had a choice of answering 3 out of 6 short questions which were bullet point style answers.

We were told to focus our revision on all the A&P topics we'd covered in our 1st year but specifically relating to the normal physiology of labour etc
    xx

Ours was 1 hour multiple choice. 30 questions on general A&P, 20 questions on midwifery A&P.
General = cardiovascular system, heart, kidneys and urine formation, musculoskeletal system, brain, male reproductive system, immunity, skin, etc etc etc
Midwifery = labour, pelvis, skull, placenta, breasts, fetal circulation etc etc etc.
    Was a HARD exam.
