    We now have our very own StudentMidwife.NET Birth Register, which also contains guided reflections for each of your midwifery placements. I have designed the document to fit with your CAP/Portfolio and the skills and domains set by the NMC. It also has a section for special memories and keepsakes to document your journey from student to midwife. It is available to download now for a nominal fee.

    It contains;
    • a Birth Register designed with students in mind, including cross reference points for skills and domains. The register documents sex of baby, feeding method, type of delivery etc and has a nice handy key for abbreviations

    • Witnessing births chart and reflection

    • Guided reflections on ALL main midwifery placements (and again a section to link to skills and domains).

    • 'Special Memories' section for photos of you and your cohort and to record all your special memories of Uni, clinical practice and your time as a student midwife

    • 'Keepsake' section for cards/letters from clients etc
    Ive designed it so its branded to StudentMidwife.NET and is copyrighted. It is a good combination of a personal journal that can be given in with CAP/Portfolio and used as other evidence in support of skills and domains achieved.

    It is available to download now for a small fee and is a PDF document, meaning the content is protected so you can just download, print off, complete and pop it in with the CAP doc/Portfolio, or just keep as a personal journal of your training, experiences and thoughts!

    The small fee will help us develop the site with bigger and better projects.....

    So get your own Birth Register, a head start with your CAP/Portfolio and support StudentMidwife.NET to do do bigger and better things click here..... want to view our other e-learning materials that you can use to enhance your portfolio? Then look no further....

    Thank you :D Downloaded mine. I haven't started my portfolio as yet, as didn't know how to set it out. But now I have a good idea of what I am doing thanks to this.
    Going to start transferring from my journal to this later on.
    Great work, thank you.

    Hurrah! Glad you like it! I felt there was a missing link in the CAP/Portfolio and really important matters like how to set out a reflection were kinda overlooked until later (I know I left everything til the last minute!) and my feeling is getting to grips with reflection early can only be a good thing, as is getting a handle on your portfolio!

    I agree, they are brilliant, it is so good to have somewhere personal to record your births, as well as your official documentation.

    Just wanted to add to this thread. I am just sorting out my portfolio and PDP file ready to hand in to uni on Monday.

    I am going to add my SM.NET Birth Register to, I think it is a brilliant document and can only enhance my portfolio. I can highly recommend them to anyone who hasn't already got one.

    I remember that feeling well, but you will be fine, and at least you know some of your cohort before you start, that always helps a lot.
